Hope Floats
A few years ago, Alain Mailland and I were visiting the botanical garden in the Provence, where we came across an array of carnivorous plants. We took a particularly interest in the Yellow Trumpet and discussed the possibilities of creating work inspired by it. Alain went on to create a few works that referenced it, and now I have been inspired to do so as well.
I agreed to create a collaborative work with Cynthia Gibson for the EOG auction, and returning from a trip to Turkey, Cynthia told me about her friend Sandy who has a life threatening cancer. The emotional reaction brought to mind the image and characteristics of the Carnivorous Trumpet plant. I intentionally designed the open flap higher so there is a chance for the unfortunate prey to escape this deadly trap.
For your friend Cynthia, hope floats. |
